HORN - Lucy Isabelle (nee Anthoney). It is with great sadness, love and fond memories that the family announces the passing of Lucy Horn on Friday, July 11, 2008 at the age of 92. She died peacefully with her daughter, Evelyn, at her side at Royal University Hospital. Mom was born October 4, 1915 in Winnipeg to William and Isabella Anthoney. They lived in the Kisbey/Arcola area before coming to Saskatoon. She attended Bedford Road Collegiate in the Commercial Division before entering Saskatoon Technical College, where she received her business training. Mom married Harold Horn on May 24, 1940 and they lived in Moose Jaw for a short while and then settled in Saskatoon. She worked at Birks Jewelers for over 20 years and was Office Manager there before she retired. When Mom won a trailer at the Saskatoon Exhibition, they joined the Wandering Wheels Trailer Club and enjoyed many, many trips with the group. They were faithful, participating members of St. John's Cathedral and Mom became a Life Member of the Anglican Church Women, Diocese of Saskatoon. Mom was also a member of the Order of Easter Star and was a Past Matron of OES Chapter #4. Lucy is predeceased by her husband, Harold; her parents and sister, Eileen. She is survived by her loving sons, Murray (Carol) Horn, Iqualuit, NWT and Grant (Linda) Horn, Edmonton; loving daughter and best friend, Evelyn, Saskatoon; grandchildren, Brent (Tracy) Horn and Brian Horn, Edmonton, Andrew (Heidi) Horn and Chandra Horn, Montreal; great grandchildren, Brendan, Evan and Ryan Horn, Edmonton; and Logan Horn, Montreal; sister-in-law, Hazel (Ward) Lindholm, Vancouver; nieces, Heather (Wyatt) Holyk and Pat Williamson, Vancouver. The family gives special thanks to the staff, nurses, and special caregivers for the loving care Mom received while residing at Lutheran Sunset Home. While there, she participated in the many activities and outings and that gave her immense joy. A highlight of one of her outings was meeting Marcus Crandell, quarterback for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and having her picture taken with him. She loved all sports and enjoyed watching any and all games of any kind on TV. Mom was a walking history buff, particularly when it came to family history. She could look at an old picture of someone and tell you exactly who they were, where they were born, where they worked, who they married and how many children they had, etc. She had a great sense of humor and was also very quick witted. We are happy that she is joining Dad, the love of her life. A celebration of Lucy's life will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Cathedral, 816 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon with the Rev. Debbie Ramage officiating, assisted by Pastor Heather Anderson of Lutheran Sunset Home. Committal will take place at St. John's Columbarium. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Anglican Cathedral, 816 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon, SK S7K 3H4 or to Lutheran Sunset Home, 1212 Osler Street, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0T9 or to a charity of your choice.
