OKEECHOBEE - Lucille Thompson passed away July 12, 2013. She was born Jan. 25, 1919 in Pinckneyville, Ill. She came to Okeechobee from Richmond, Ind. in the mid-1980s. She was a retired private school teacher. She was a member of the Pentecostals of Okeechobee and was very active in the church and our community. She enjoyed quilting and baking and she was an avid gardener. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Owen Thompson. She is survived by two daughters, Anna Warren (Rev. Raymond) of Okeechobee and Carolyn Shields (Mike) of Chanhassen, Minn.; five grandchildren, Matthew Warren (Jan) of Jackson, Miss., Kirk Warren (Brandy), Candace Pope (David) all of Okeechobee, Amber Bathke (Rob) of St. Paul, Minn. and Michael Shields (Emily) of Las Vegas, Nev.; and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sat., July 20, 2013 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Memorial service will be 5 p.m. Sun., July 21, 2013 at The Pentecostals of Okeechobee, 405 SW 10th AVE, Okeechobee, FL 34974.
