MARTIN, S.C. - Lucille Towne McDonald, 89, widow of the late Wardlaw H. McDonald, entered into eternal rest Friday, April 22, 2011, at Barnwell County Nursing Home, Barnwell, SC. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Dyches Funeral Home Chapel in Barnwell with the Rev. Rommie Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, Martin, SC. Mrs. McDonald, a native of Dunbarton, was a daughter of the late Willie Marion Towne and Eather Mae Duncan. She was Valedictorian at Dunbarton High School and attended Draughon's Business College in Columbia, SC. Lucille worked for Lightsey Brothers in Miley, SC, for 55 years. She was a member of Pleasant Mountain Baptist Church and also attended services at Lower Three Runs Baptist Church. Lucille was a 64-year member of Lillie Chapter #27, Order of the Eastern Star, and was Worthy Matron 5 times and Grand Martha. She served as District Deputy Grand Matron of the 13th District and Grand Representative of Louisiana, Kentucky, and Wyoming. Survivors include one sister, Margie T. Duncan of Columbia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Frances T. Handberry and Essie T. Baxter; one brother, Edward W. Towne. Pallbearers will be Donnie Baxter, Brett Bell, Buck Handberry, James Handberry, Joseph Handberry, Richard Towne, Eddie Webb, and Jody Webb. Honorary Pallbearers will be all Eastern Stars. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Dyches Funeral Home, Barnwell, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Mountain Baptist Church, 166 Handberry Lane, Martin, SC 29836. The Family Has Entrusted Dyches Funeral & Crematory with the Arrangements.
