Lucienne Maitland (née Beaulieu) October 08, 1934 - October 27, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Desjardins Funeral Chapel Lucienne Maitland (nee Beaulieu) Born in St. Boniface on Oct 8, 1934, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital Oct 27th after a lengthy battle with emphysema and cancer. Lucienne is predeceased by her husband, David Maitland (1997), father Lucien Beaulieu(1980), mother Dorilda (1989), brother Norbert (1984) and son-in-law Brent Guile (2002). She is survived by her daughter Lynda Guile, and son, Tyler Maitland. She also survived by Bernard and Shirley Beaulieu, Denis and Leona Beaulieu, Leo Beaulieu, Cecile and Rolly Dufault, sister-in-law Pearl Beaulieu, as well as a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. After living in St. Labre for four years as a child, Lucienne and family moved back to St. Boniface in 1944, attending St. Joesph’s academy. Lucienne was awarded the Governor General’s Award in her senior year in high school. She earned her B.A. in Education at the University of Manitoba in 1957 and then traveled to Europe in that same year, visiting Rome and having an audience with Pope Pius XII. Lucienne married David Maitland June 27th, 1959 and moved to Vancouver the next year. Lucienne worked as high school French teacher for the next 20 years, leaving to join her husband in his publishing business, Elty Sales. After David’s passing in 1997, Lucienne moved back to St. Boniface. Lucienne will be missed by her large family and her friends, who she has touched along the way as a sister, mother and teacher to us all. Heartfelt thanks goes out to Yvette and Albert, Bev, Joan, Michelle, Becky, Shirley, Paula and St. Boniface Palliative Care unit. Lucienne was a strong, intelligent woman, who made a positive impact on all who were lucky enough to know her. To her son and daughter, Lucienne was their best friend. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1st at the St. Boniface Cathedral with Father Edouard Bonin presiding. Viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. We’ll all miss you very much.
