1934-2014 WATERVILLE - Louisette "Lou" Roy, 79, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday, May 10, 2014. She was born in Waterville on Oct. 25, 1934, the daughter of the late Leonel J. and Andrea I. (Talbot) Fortin. Lou was a gentle soul who touched many lives. Everyone who met her loved her without a doubt. She always made you feel like family. She was a true fighter until the end. Lou worked in the family business, Fortin's Hardware and TV, for many years, as well as Kmart in Waterville. She also worked as a crossing guard just like her father before her, for the town of Winslow. Upon her retirement, Lou spent many hours doing jig saw puzzles. You could always find one on her kitchen table. She also enjoyed the company of her daughter's cats, Dylan and Tucker. Lou is survived by her three children, son Kevin and his wife, Wanda, of Spring Hill, Fla., and daughters Brenda, of Waterville, and Debbie, of Benton; grandson Robert J. Roy, of Florida; sisters Nancy VanDerveer and her husband, Jim, of Winslow, and Jeanne LaPlante and her companion, Chuck Perkins, of Waterville; brothers Reginald Fortin and his companion, Shirley Littlefield, of Winslow, and Michael Fortin and his wife, Jill, of Winslow; sister-in-law Pat Roy, of Revere, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. Lou is also survived by a dear friend and former co-worker, Steve Roy, of Fairfield. Along with her parents, Lou was also predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Roy; and brothers-in-law David Roy and Ron LaPlante. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Waterville. Committal services will be private at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Services are under the care and direction of Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lou's memory to the Humane Society Waterville Area, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, ME 04901.
