Mrs. Louise "Babe" Guy January 12, 1916 - November 16, 2004 Funeral arrangements by V J McGilivray Funeral Homes (Glace Bay) LOUISE “BABE” GUY GLACE BAY / DARTMOUTH It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Louise “Babe” Guy age 88 of Dartmouth and formerly of Glace Bay. Babe passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Babe was the daughter of the late William and Martha (Roth) Timmerman. She was born and lived most of her life in Glace Bay and was the eldest of five siblings. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1991 and by brothers, Cecil and William. She will be sadly missed by daughters, Karen (Ron) MacPherson and Judy (Ray) Grant, both of Dartmouth, four grandchildren, Rhonda (Chris) Church, Bridgewater, Bob (Heidi), Whistler, B.C., Cara Grant, Dartmouth, Rachael Grant (Jon Church), Dartmouth and by six great grandchildren, Sophie, Benjamin, Keesun, Dryden, Anais and Lael, sister, Evelyn (Bert) Boone, Cambridge, Ont., brother, Arthur (Sadie) Timmerman, Glace Bay, sisters-in-law, Mary Timmerman and Valerie Timmerman – both of Glace Bay. As a young woman Babe and her husband Bob, founded a successful grocery and furniture business, Guy’s IGA and Guy’s Furniture. She was a member of Warden United Church and an active member of the Kinette Club of Glace Bay. She was an avid card player and loved to dance and travel. After retirement, she became an eager golfer and when no longer able to play, continued to follow the fame through the media. In the late 80’s, Babe and Bob moved to Dartmouth to be near their two daughters and their families. She continued to maintain her own apartment until the time of her death. Babe was a gentle woman who dearly loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all of us. There will no visitation by Babe’s request. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2004 in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Rev. Laurie MacCuish will be officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay. Donations in Babe’s memory may be made to QE II Foundation, Dartmouth General Site or a charity of choice. Family flowers only please.
