ObituaryLOUISE MILLERITHACA - Louise Miller, longtime resident of Ithaca, and member of the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Friday, December 22, 2006. She was 82.Louise was born in Tampa, Florida on May 15, 1924 to Leroy and Mary Lee (Bostick) Miller. She spent part of her adult life living on Staten Island, and then made her way north to Ithaca in the mid-1970s, where she resided at a number of locations in the downtown area, most recently on West Seneca Street. From 1983 to 1995 she worked as a lab attendant at Bradfield Hall in Cornell's Department of Agronomy. Following her retirement, she kept up an active life, being easily recognized by many Ithacans as she walked to and from various local establishments - the Shortstop Deli, the Farmer's Market, and the Ithaca Bakery among others. Her experiences early in life imparted to Louise a strength of character and physical stamina that even late in life gave others the impression that she was many years younger than her actual age. Until just recently, when her deteriorating health prevented her from doing so, she regularly attended meetings at the Kingdom Hall, and gladly shared her Biblical faith and hope in a future paradisaic earth with others who might have a listening ear. She will be missed by her many friends in the local community, her caregivers Chris and Jackie, and the members of her congregation. All are welcome to attend the memorial service for Louise to be held at 2PM this Saturday, December 30, at the Ithaca Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 1201 Danby Road (Route 96B).
