MORRISON _ Louise Thelma Worthington Our precious mama, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Louise Thelma Worthington Morrison, passed away on December 19, 2002, just in time to spend Christmas with her beloved Norman, her husband and sweetheart of forty-five years. She was a woman of vision and conviction - a humble woman, who faced mounting difficulties with great courage and dignity. She was a gentle woman, whose skill and caring hands have, through the years, touched so many lives and hearts. Mama began her life adventure on April 15, 1929 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, as the oldest of eleven children. Helping to raise her younger siblings, she learned the value of strength and fortitude that would follow her through her life's greatest challenges. She later moved to Montreal and nursed at the Montreal General Hospital until she joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and achieved the rank of First Officer, air traffic control. She met her eternal sweetheart at the Veterans Hospital and they were married on New Year's Eve, 1954. Mama was a woman well ahead of her time. Undaunted by Papa's MS and his wheelchair when she met him, she embarked upon a journey of research into MS diet and alternative medicine. Through her unceasing efforts and her great love, Papa lived over fifty years with the disease until he passed away in 1999, and he was sharp and funny right until the end! Many people afflicted with MS came to her for guidance on the disease, and she was always happy to share her time and expertise with them. She was intelligent, joyful, funny, artistic and had an insatiable love of learning. She enjoyed the arts, the study of nutrition and natural healing, sports, music, gardening, interior decorating, to name a few, but her greatest love was her husband, children and extended family, and her faith in the Lord. She had a bottomless reservoir of energy, an enormous enthusiasm for life and an unending love for her family, friends, community and church. Her love of family and friends, her spirit of adventure and her commitment to giving will remain with all those who were touched by her. Those who knew her understood her to be the rare individual who leaves the world having given far more to it than she took from it. In her late forties, she was faced with perhaps her greatest challenge, Alzheimers, and as always, she faced it with dignity and determination. Throughout the lengthy course of her disease she remained cultured and loving, and was a great inspiration to her family and friends. She is the loving mother of Paul (Barbara) of Windsor, Ontario and daughter Anna Larson of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by six grandchildren; sisters Eileen, Eleanor, Kay and Marion; and brothers, Richard and Sam. She is predeceased by her husband Norman, son Robert, mother Thelma, father Thomas, sister Annie and brothers, Robert, Tom and Joe. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mama's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary. Mama did not wish to have a Funeral, but rather a gathering of close friends to celebrate her life. The celebration will be at LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOME (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Friday, December 27 between 3:00 and 5:00. Enjoy the mistletoe Mama and Papa! Arrangements entrusted to LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOME. Telephone: 228-4422. 140721
