Louise Berghuis Lee PENNINGTON - Louise Berghuis Lee, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 29, at Capital Health System at Mercer. Born in Trenton, she married Forrest C. Berghuis, making their home in Ewing Township until he passed away in 2000. Louise resided in Pennington for the past 17 years, marrying Walter A. Lee Jr. in 2002. An active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, she taught Sunday School and served on various committees throughout the years. She and her family were instrumental in establishing the Covenant Memorial/Prayer Garden. Louise was also a member of the Mercer Hospital Auxiliary, where she was devoted to the Mercer Mart, a thrift shop, under the sponsorship of the hospital. She served faithfully for 18 years until the mart closed in 2005. At the time of her death, she was active with affairs at Pennington Point. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, and playing bridge. In addition to her husband, she leaves her son, David F. Berghuis and his wife, Pat, of Westbury, NY, and a daughter, Chris, of Bridgeport, CT; a step-son, Allen Lee and his wife, Janet Pointsett; stepdaughter, Barbara and husband, Gregory Driscoll, all of Ewing Township, and a stepdaughter, Audrey and husband, Richard Clarke-Pounder, of Charleston, SC; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fortunate with an extended family and many friends, she loved everyone and was loved, in return, by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 471 Parkway Ave., with the Rev. Jan Willem van der Werff pastor officiating. Donations may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church for care and maintenance of the Covenant Memorial Prayer Garden.
