Louise A. Smithof Deposit, N.Y.Louise A. Smith, 83, died peacefully at her home, July 21, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Lynd V. Smith, in 1974. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy A. Milkovich and son-in-law, Anthony C. Milkovich; son, James L. Smith; and daughter, Jane H. Smith; two grandsons, LCPL Caleb S. Smith serving in Afghanistan and Joseph L. Milkovich. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Vera Jean Hover and husband, Joseph Hover; and sister-in-law, Margaret Menhennett; as well as six nieces, six nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Louise worked for the Deposit Telephone Co. for many years. Liz, as she was known by her friends at the phone company, started in the 40's as an operator and later was Supervisor of the Billing Department. She retired in 1990. Louise was Past Matron of the Delaware Chapter #244 Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for many years.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Zacharias Funeral Home in Deposit, with Rev. Harold Justesen officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery at Deposit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lourdes Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
