->BELGRADE -- Louisa Mary Nadeau, beloved wife and mother, went to heaven on June 16, 2009, after a long, full life.She was born in St. Anastasie, Quebec, on July 9, 1913, the daughter of Alcide and Aurare (Gagnon) Mercier.Louisa was a hardworking, loving person. She kept busy crocheting and quilting many blankets, which she happily gave to family and friends. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed helping out the many people who needed mending, alterations, or anything else that needed special repair. She loved watching the birds and wildlife from her home on Belgrade Stream. Spoiling her grandchildren was something that always kept a smile on her face. She will be missed by all the people whose lives she touched.Louisa worked at the Edwards Manufacturing Mill and later Hudson Pulp and Paper Company in Augusta. In 1959 she moved her family to a farm in Belgrade. She was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church in Oakland, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 205, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1018 and the Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 3137, all in Augusta. She belonged to Canada-American Society, Cushnoc Senior Citizens and Happy Family Senior Citizens.Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Henry Nadeau; brothers Joseph and Cyrille Mercier; and sisters Lorette Lacombe, Marie Blanche Lacombe, Corana Charland, Juliette Jordan, Cecile Tremblay, and Mercedes Bechard.Surviving are sons Roger Nadeau and his wife, Jessie, and Douglas Nadeau and his wife, Sharon, all of Belgrade; daughters Theresa Malinowski and her husband, Francis, of Gardiner, and Nancy Mills and her husband, David, of Belgrade; sister Albertine Maltais of Three Rivers, Quebec; 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.Friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, at St. Theresa's Church, 35 Church St., Oakland. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. A gathering of friends and family will follow at the Belgrade Center for All Seasons.In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to the Belgrade Fire and Rescue, Manchester Road, Belgrade, ME 04917.
