Louis Jean Michaud, 79, Port Charlotte, died Aug. 20, 2002. He was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Frenchville, Maine, and came to the Charlotte County area 16 years ago from Kensington, Conn. He was self-employed in the automobile service field. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Jude Assembly No. 5399 in Port Charlotte, as a fourth degree knight, and also held the position of honor guard director. He was a member of St. Jean de Baptiste Sociéte in New Britain, Conn. He was a former member of the St. Charles Charismatic Prayer Group and was a eucharistic minister at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for 16 years. Survivors include his wife, Rita W.; a son, Garland of Newport, Ore.; daughters Paula A. and Donna, both of Port Charlotte, and Norma Cianci of Meriden, Conn.; a sister, Lucille Carrier of Madawaska, Maine; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Private burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte at the convenience of the family. Paul Schelm Funeral Home in Port Charlotte is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's charity of choice.
