Louis C.R. Marino 1922-2013 HOLYOKE - Louis Carmen Renaldi Marino, 90, a resident of Providence Place, passed away there on Sunday (April 21, 2013). Louis was born in Springfield, November 15, 1922 a son of the late, Angelo and Anna (Curto) Marino; and was a former West Springfield resident. Louis was a U.S. Army veteran, WW II, serving in the European and Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations with the 2651st, military police company as investigator in Italy and also anti submarine campaigns. For his courage he was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Prior to his retirement, Louis was employed by Western Mass Electric, later Northeast Utilities. Louis was pre-deceased by his wife, Albina (Tirozzi) Marino, whom he met while serving in Italy. A grandson, Joel Marino passed away in 2008. Two brothers, William R. Marino and Michael J. Marino also predeceased him. Louis is survived by his 2 sons, Louis R. Marino of Madison, WI, Ronald P. Marino and his wife Maureen, of Amherst; 5 grandchildren, Sean Marino, Kevin Marino and his wife Heather, Kristen and Brian Marino, Dominick Marino and his wife Hillary, ; 2 great grandchildren, Cooper Marino, Mia Marino; 2 sisters in law, Margaret Tirozzi, Susana Marino; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends on Thursday (April 25th) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Funeral services will be held on Friday (April 26th), beginning at 8:45 AM from the funeral home. This will be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial, celebrated, at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield. Burial with military honor will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield.
