LOU ETTA OWENS, 84 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Lou Etta Owens, 84, passed away Tuesday September 29, 2009 at her home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, following an extended battle with cancer. Lou was born in Lakeland, FL on July 19, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Barney Bass and Della Baker Caudill. She lived 52 years at 517 Robson St., in Lakeland, and was known by all as Mama or Grandma. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy Lee Barnes. Surviving are two daughters, Glenda G. McLeod of Winston-Salem, NC and Sharon E. Bonner of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren: Tracy M. McLeod, Steven M. McLeod and Matthew S. McLeod of California, Madelon T. Lockwood of Tennessee, Tammy L. Barnes of Missouri, Mon-ica L. Barnes of Florida; twenty great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Mama will remain in our hearts forever and will be greatly missed. She was a strong and determined Lady. At the wish of Lou Etta, there will be no formal services following cremation.
