Avis de décès de Lois-Elizabeth-Foglesong Morgan

Lois Elizabeth Foglesong Morgan died Sunday afternoon, August 16, 2009, after a long illness, in her home on Lake Taneycomo. Her grandfather, Quintus Allen Parker, built the homestead that later became her home. Lois Morgan was admired and respected for her tireless and generous spirit. She was Resource Coordinator for Taney County office of the Division of Family Services for many years. Prior to that she managed the bookstore and wrote reviews for the Ozarks Mountaineer magazine. Lois née Foglesong grew up in Fort Madison, Iowa, and spent her summers on Lake Taneycomo with her extended family. In 1942, she and many of her family migrated to California where they worked as civilians in the war effort. She met and married Merlin "Pete" Peterson who started a small business in Salina, Kansas, where they reared their children, James Scott Peterson and John Allen Peterson. Pete died in 1963. In 1967, Lois remarried to Joseph Dorlaque. Joe's mother had been a neighbor of her parents, Jesse and Margaret Foglesong on Lake Taneycomo. Lois and Joe Dorlaque resided in Chicago, Illinois. Joe was a public relations writer for Illinois Bell and Lois worked as a secretary in the music department at the University of Chicago. After Joe's death in 1976, she moved to Lake Taneycomo to care for her mother. There she married Roy Holcomb who had been one of her high school pals on the Lake. Roy died in 1982. Within a couple of years of his death she met Harry Morgan of Horeham Village, Sussex, England, through his correspondence with the Ozarks Mountaineer. They married in 1984, and lived together at the lake for 17 years until his death. During that long happy marriage she endured the loss of her eldest son, James Scott Peterson, age 39. The following year she was treated for a brain tumor but survived and returned to her work with Family Services. She was loved and respected by her many friends and associates in Branson and around the world, as well as by her son, John Allen Peterson; his children, Marina, Jesse, Alexandria, John Asa, and Anastasia; her grandson, Christopher Isaiah Peterson-Green, son of James Scott Peterson; and daughters-in-law, Kerry Kramer of Pueblo, Colorado, Joanna Redfield Vaughan of Austin, Texas, Jeannie Green of Taos, New Mexico, Ada González of San Antonio, Texas, and Virginia Canoy Peterson of Cebu, Philippines. They all survive her death. Her son, John, wife Virginia, and John Asa were with her at her passing. Services will be held in Branson Christian Church of the Disciples, 213 S. Commercial Street, Branson, Missouri, at 11 a.m. August 22, 2009, with visitation at 9:30 am.
