<!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Lois Mae Atkin CarterMinersville, UtahOur beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014, surrounded by her family at Beaver Valley Hospital. She was born December 24, 1929 in Beaver, UT to Heber and Mae Smith Atkin. She married Kent Frank Carter on July 3, 1947 in Beaver, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on April 6, 1983.Mom worked very hard in many things such as the potato fields, a foreman of the Beaver Sewing Factory, and a house cleaner. She loved to help others with their wall papering and painting to beautify their homes. She held numerous callings in her LDS ward, namely Relief Society President, primary teacher, home making leader, and other callings. Mom's meticulous yard work won her several beautification awards. Her love for gardening, yard work, quilting, and cooking were enjoyed by many family members and friends. Her greatest lessons to her family were taught through her example in everyday life. She is survived by her husband Kent, daughter Linda K Black (Leland) of Beaver, daughter Glena Rae White (Mike) of Cedar City, son Ronald Frank Carter (Janet) of Minersville, daughter Donetta Miller (David) of St. George, 15 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her son Val Kent Carter, son Ross Carter, parents Heber and Mae Atkin, brother Alton and sisters Arvilla Gale, Lottie Hunt, Thelma Barber, and Althea Utley.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Minersville LDS Chapel. A viewing will be from 10:30-12:30 at the church, prior to the services. Interment will be at the Minersville Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
