ARUNDEL -- Lionel J. Lavallee, 90, of Log Cabin Road and formerly of West River Road, Augusta, died on his birthday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford.He was born in Augusta, the son of George E. Lavallee and Rose Anna (Quirion) Lavallee.He served honorably in the Army during World War II.Prior to his retirement, Mr. Lavallee was employed by Joseph Kirschner Co. in Augusta for 37 years. He was previously employed by Augusta Provision for several years.He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a life member of Le Club Calumet, where he was a former member of the Calumet Drum & Bugle Corps, a life member of Pine Tree Post 887, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a former member of the Snowshoers Club.His wife of 56 years, Aldea (Lajoie) Lavallee, died on Dec. 8, 1995.Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Moreau of Arundel; two sons, Roger Lavallee of Enosburg Falls, Vt., and Norman Lavallee of Alburg, Vt.; one brother, Joseph L. Lavallee of Central Point, Ore.; two sisters, Rose Dumond of Augusta and Jeannette McCarty of Windsor; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Friends may visit 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 6:15 p.m. for a prayer service.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta.
