Lionel George Clarke 1919 – 2007 The death of Lionel George Clarke, 87 years, husband of the late Ellen Ruth (MacPherson) of Shediac Bridge and formerly of Moncton occurred at his residence on Saturday, February 10, 2007. Born in Moncton, May 5th, 1919 he was the son of the late George and Gertrude Clarke. Lionel was a well known car dealer in the Moncton area. A veteran of the Second World War he served with Canadian Army Film and Photo Corp and was a News Reel and Camera operator. He was a previous dedicated member of the Moncton Y's Men Club, an avid gardener and craftsman, with special interests in sailing and photography. He is also remembered for his organizational skills and abilities, and his brilliant sense of humour. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his two children, G.S. Bruce Clarke and his wife, Priscilla, Mary-Jean Cloney and her husband, David; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Clarke (Patrick), Christopher Clarke (Angela), Lisette Oliver (Norman), Keith Murray, Patricia Murray (Nik), Timothy Murray, Kristina Cloney (Dave) Jonathan Cloney; seven great grandchildren, Tristan, Braedon, Jessica, Nikky, Nevaeh, Leif and Grace; as well as Mac, Rufus and Samtoo. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by his step mother, Pearl Hazel Clarke; and his sister, Norma Forbes. By request there will not be any visiting hours or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in the spring. Donations in Lionel's name may be made to the memorial of the donor's choice.
