Linda Thompson, 71, of West Frankfort for the last year and former resident of Dixon Springs, IL passed away Monday, February 11, 2008 at 5 a.m. at her home in West Frankfort, IL. She was born March 9, 1936 in Aurora, IL. She was the daughter of Floyd McIntosh & Helen (Foss) Rains. She was united in marriage to Haskel Thompson on March 9, 1955 in Corinth, Mississippi and he preceded her in death on January 10, 1993. Linda was a home health care provider. She received her Certified Nurses Aid training at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, IL. She was a member of the Dixon Springs Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linda was an excellent cook and loved preparing meals for family and friends. She also enjoyed to travel. Linda is survived by two daughters: Carol Parkins of Paducah, KY, and D.J. Thompson of Vienna, IL; four sons: Gary Thompson of Dixon Springs, IL, Richard Thompson of West Frankfort,IL, Roger Thompson of West Frankfort, IL, and Doug Thompson of Eddyville,IL; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three sisters: Shelby Bates of Winfield, Al, Judy Courtney of Plainfield, IN, and Nancy Livsey of Omaha, NB; two brothers: Floyd McIntosh of Metropolis, IL and Danny Rains of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter: Patty Thompson; grandson: Greg Parkins; brother: Leon Curry. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL. Burial will be in the Roland Cemetery near Dixon Springs, IL. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL.
