Linda Susan Boyd March 20, 1962- February 15, 2014 Columbus, GA- Linda Susan Boyd, 51, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House after a year-long struggle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Tim Jones officiating. Interment will be held 3:00 P.M. at DeSoto Cemetery, DeSoto, GA. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. 31907. Linda was born March 30, 1962 in Rock Hill, S.C., daughter of the late Oscar Boyd and Kay Ferguson Boyd of Columbus, Ga. She lived in Woodland, Maine; Longview, Wash., Zachary, La., Snowflake, Az., Macungie, Pa., Monroeville, Al., Monroe, La., and Los Angeles, Calif.; before settling in Columbus, Ga. She completed bachelor's degrees in philosophy and computer science at Columbus State University and graduated summa cum laude. Linda was an intelligent and passionate woman with a deep respect for all living things, and a wicked sense of humor. She enjoyed philosophical and political discussions, international and domestic travel, live theater and music, and motorcycle riding. She was easily recognizable riding around Columbus in her green Volkswagen Beetle with daisy wheels, and made friends everywhere she went. She loved her family, her home, her close friends, and Taylor the cat. Survivors include her mother, Kay Ferguson Boyd of Columbus, Ga.; sisters, Pamela Boyd Brownlee (Steven) of Mandeville, La., and Elizabeth Boyd Underwood (William) of Leesburg, Ga.; aunts, Norma Phillips of Parkersburg, W.Va., Jean Deriso of Americus, Ga. and Mary Ferguson of Albany, Ga.; uncle, John Ed Ferguson of Albany, Ga.; nieces, Morgan Elizabeth Brownlee, Gillian Alice Brownlee, Crystal Underwood Engel and Jessica Underwood Drinnon; and nephew, Alexander Logan Underwood. Flowers will be accepted, but those who wish may make memorial donations to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
