UntitledLINDA MARIE SMITH1943-2008Linda Marie Smith, 64, of Pensacola died Monday March 10, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Smith was a native of New Orleans, LA and a long-time resident of Pensacola. She was born April 24, 1943 in New Orleans, to Steven Gahagan Sr. and Alice Gahagan. In 1967 she married Walter Smith and began a twenty-year adventure traveling the country and the world as the wife of a career Navy man. After her husband retired they settled in Pensacola. She began volunteering at the American Diabetes Association and the Northwest Florida Radio Reading Service. Mrs. Smith was an avid bowler, zealous reader, and loved cats.She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Walter; daughter & son in-law, Lynette & Jody Prevatte; grandchildren, Justin & Sydney Prevatte; brother, Steven Gahagan Jr., of New Orleans, LA; brother & sister-in-law, Donald & Vivian Gahagan of Denham Springs, LA; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Billy Jean & Frank Palisano of New Orleans; nephews & nieces (and their children), Barry Gahagan & his wife Debbie of Baton Rouge, LA, Blaine Gahagan & his wife Joann of Kenner, LA, and Aileen Foley & her husband Mike of Metairie, LAA Mass of celebration will be held 10:30 am Monday March 17, 2008 at Little Flower Catholic Church with Father Eugene Casserly celebrant. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 Sunday March 16, 2008 at FAITH CHAPEL South 100 Beverly Pkwy. In memory of Mrs. Smith the family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
