Linda M. Johnson Linda M. Johnson (nee Hymer), 59, of Bridgeton passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 14, 2010, while surrounded by her loving family in the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Bridgeton. Born in Bridgeton and a lifetime Bridgeton area resident, Linda was the daughter of the late Ephraim "Ike" and Laura Mae (nee Hewitt) Hymer. She was the loving wife of Allan C. Johnson. For the last 16 years, the Johnsons lived at their current address. Linda was most recently employed at the Wawa at CarllÕs Corner and prior to that owned and operated Downtown Treasurers in downtown Bridgeton. She also worked for nearly 25 years at Leone Industries. A 1969 graduate of Bridgeton High School, she received her associateÕs degree in business from Cumberland County College. An active member of the Bridgeton First Church of the Nazarene, she was a part of the "Compassionate Ministries" at the church. In addition, she was the director of The Bridge thrift store on S. Laurel Street which is operated by the church. She also was a volunteer in the churchÕs nursery and was responsible for the churchÕs bulletin board. Linda was a former member of the Bridgeton Lions Club and was active as a club officer and with many of the clubÕs fund raisers. Several years ago she was a volunteer at West Cumberland Little League and often worked in the concession stand. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Stacie Cuff (Donald) of Hopewell Township; one son, Melvin W. Coombs III of Pittsgrove; four stepchildren, Allan Johnson Jr. of Vineland, Jason Johnson of Mays Landing, Gene Rarey of Stow Creek and Shawn Huff of Upper Deerfield; and 11 grandchildren, Zo' Coombs, who Linda was raising, Andrew, Matthew, Rebekah, Naomi, Nataleigh, Lydea, Briana, Tyler, Jacob and AJ. She is also survived by five sisters, Cheryl Plummer (Art) of Lower Alloways Creek, Janet M. Durham (Toby) of Upper Deerfield, Mary A. Dean (David) of Upper Deerfield, Nancy S. Loatman (Chuck) of Fairton and Harriet Cuff of Upper Deerfield; two brothers, Donald L. Hymer (Janice) Lower Alloways Creek and Ephraim Hymer (George) of N. Wales, Pa.; many nieces and nephews and one aunt, Florence Crumb of Pennsville. Linda was predeceased by a son, Kevin R. Coombs in 2005. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Bridgeton First Church of the Nazarene, 350 West Park Drive, in Hopewell Township, on Thursday morning, Nov. 18, at 10 oÕclock. The churchÕs pastor, Rev. Milton Achey will officiate. The burial will follow the service at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 at also at the church on Thursday morning from 9 until 10. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Zo' Coombs Education Fund, c/o Colonial Bank, Attention: Wheeler Fazenbaker, 2745 S. Delsea Drive, Vineland, NJ 08360 or to The Bridge, c/o The Bridgeton First Church of the Nazarene, 350 West Park Drive, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
