Linda Johnson, 58, died March 18, 2012, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. Linda was born on March 20, 1953, to the late Mr. Alvin and Mrs. Ada Bell Johnson. She attended Central High School until the schools became one and graduated from Screven County High School in 1971. She also attended Ogeechee Technical Institute (now Ogeechee Technical College) and earned her certification as a paraprofessional. She worked at Screven County Middle School for 18 years and at Syl-Viev Nursing Home for 14 years in dietary. At an early age, she attended the Holy Temple F.B.H. Church and later in life became a member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church. She was the mother of two children and had three grandchildren that she loved dearly.She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Jocelyn Jackson of Sylvania; son, Jerel Johnson of Sylvania; grandchildren, Alaysha Jackson, Adaisha Johnson and Jaden Caleb Wright, all of Sylvania; brother, Alvin R. (LaWanda) Johnson, Marvia Kittles, Margaretta (James) Smith, all of Sylvania, and Barbara James of Savannah; nephews, Matthew Gatson and William Jenkins; nieces, Shantia Smith, Sabrina Johnson and Brittney James; step-nephews, Gene Wright, Michael Wright and Kevin Wright; special uncle, Herman (Velma) Benton; and uncles and aunts, cousins and friends.Celebration of Life Service: 1 p.m. Friday, March 23, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 199 MLK Boulevard, Sylvania.Body reposing: 11 a.m. at the church until hour of service.Interment: Friendship Memorial Cemetery.Sylvania Funeral Home, Inc.; (912) 564-2241.Statesboro Herald, March 22, 2012Sign the Legacy online guestbook at www.statesboroherald.com.
