Avis de décès de Linda-J. Wilson

Linda J. Wilson passed away on Aug. 7, 2012, at her home in Springfield, Mo., following a long struggle with illness. Linda was born on Jan. 30, 1933, in Mayfield, Ky., the daughter of Elbert and Roxie Greer; they preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Warner L. Wilson on June 11, 1954. Linda is survived by her husband, with whom she shared 58 years of a joyful marriage. Also surviving are son, David, his wife, Lori, and their daughter, Leah, of Overland Park, Kan., and son, Stephen, his wife, Karen, and their children, Laura and Michael, of Brick, N.J. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Fish and her husband, Robert, of Tullahoma, Tenn.; her brother-in-law, Gary, of Springfield, Mo., and her brother-in-law, Max, and his wife, Judy, of Topeka, Kan. Linda was a 1953 graduate of Southwest Baptist Junior College in Bolivar, Mo., where she obtained an associate's degree in education. She did substitute teaching in the Indianapolis, Ind., area from 1966 to 1973. Also, while living in Indianapolis, she obtained her certification as a licensed practical nurse. Her nursing vocation was practiced for seven years at Elizabeth General Hospital in Elizabeth, N.J., from 1973 to 1980. And, for 15 years she was a nurse at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo., from 1981 to 1996. Linda's colleagues attested to the fact that the care level she had for her patients was of an exceptionally good quality, as was her collegiality with her co-workers. There are no words to adequately express how much Linda will be missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to offer a special word of appreciation to the staff at the Omega Health Care Hospice program for the loving care they provided Linda during her end-of-life days. Visitation and final farewells will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, Mo., from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10. There will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, Linda requested that donations be made to the Southwest Missouri Humane Society, where she adopted her adorable Chu-Chu and Rosie.
