Mrs. Linda J. Thompson - SAVANNAH - Mrs. Linda J. Thompson, 59, entered eternal rest on Friday, June 27, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a native of Rocky Mount. NC, and attended the public schools of Wilson County. Mrs. Thompson was a 1967 graduated of Fredrick Douglas High School. She received her Bachelor Degree in English and Reading from Boston College in 1972. Mrs. Thompson retired after 35 years of teaching for the Chatham County Board of Education. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she served on the Deacon Board, sang with the sister group and served as worship leader. Survivors: husband, Leon Thompson of Savannah GA; two sons, Mincarlo Thompson ( Joy) of Norfolk, VA, and Jamall Thompson (Nicole) of Sarasota, FL; one daughter, Jameela Johnson of Memphis, TN; seven grandchildren, parents, Deacon and Deaconess Allen S. Johnson Sr., of Sharpsburg, NC; three brothers, Allen S. Johnson Jr. (Cheryl) of Oxford, NC, Gregory Johnson of Washington, DC; and Ray Johnson (Cynthia) of Rocky Mount, NC; four sisters, Gerald Johnson and Betty Johnson of Rocky Mount, NC; Robin Johnson and Kimberly Johnson of Raleigh, NC; three aunts, Corinthia Deans of Brooklyn, NY, Rose Johnson of Rocky Mount, NC, Maggie Rogers of Clinton, MA; three uncles a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
