Linda G. (Wernli) Baker, 53, Clearwater, and formerly of Sarasota, died June 5, 2003, at Mease Countryside Hospital, Clearwater. She was born Nov. 25, 1949, in Edgewater, N.J., and came to Sarasota in 1996 from Massachusetts. She spent most of her life in private duty nursing and special transportation. She was also involved in several school systems advocating special needs programs, baseball and the Special Olympics. Survivors include a son, James T.; a daughter, Erika L. Gaustad; a sister, Barbara A. Hammer of Venice; and a grandson. A memorial service will be in St. Petersburg. Burial will be in Easthampton, Mass.
