Linda Campano Smith of New Providence, N.J., passed away at home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at the age of 65. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J. A funeral service will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Born in Summit, N.J., Linda grew up in Berkeley Heights before moving to New Providence many years ago. She was a graduate of the Governor Livingston High School. Linda was an accounting supervisor for Reed Elsevier, New Providence, until her retirement. Linda was a gentle, generous and loving person who was devoted to her family and friends. She will be irreplaceable to those who knew and loved her. Linda is survived by her loving children, Dr. John (Laura) Smith and Jennifer (Joseph) Ventre. She was the sister of Joan Marchell and Mary Canete, and the cherished grandmother of Dominic, Miranda and Ariana. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Dominick and Carmela Campano.
