Benson, Linda Dec. 17, 1953 - Sep. 10, 2014 Linda Benson, 60, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Atlanta, GA and New Jersey, passed away quietly on Sep. 10, 2014. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Fri., Sep. 19, 2014 at Bethlehem Bible Church, 1680 18th Street. in Sarasota. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sat., at Bethlehem Bible Church. Interment will follow in Palm Memorial Park in Sarasota, FL. Funeral arrangements by: Chandler's Funeral Home. Linda was the oldest child born to Helen Jones Dixon and the only child born to the late Harold E. Dixon who passed away on October 25, 1954. Linda moved to New Jersey at the age of four and attended school there. At the age of 12, Linda was converted and baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in East Orange, New Jersey. At that age, she also started her art career when she won a competition by painting an Easter Lily at an 'All Girl School,' which she attended for one year. Linda loved to paint and continued to work on her paintings until her health failed. Linda sold paintings in the gallery in Atlanta, GA. She is survived by her husband, James Benson, of Clemson, SC. Linda is the loving mother of three children, Charmia Dixon-Binford (Greg), of McDOnough, GA, Carla Burrell, of Sarasota, FL and David Burwell, of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Jonas Dixon, Nevaeh and Jayell McCarthy. Linda is also bereaved by her loving mother, Helen Dixon, who she affectionately named 'my shero'; and her baby sister, Charlette Dixon-Oliver. Linda was loved by her family and many friends. She was a charmer and will be truly missed.
