<br><br><br> -->Lillian Barber Alexander UNION, SC-- Mrs. Lillian Barber Alexander, age 85, of 302 Blassingame Street, Union, SC, widow of Paul Edward Alexander died Monday, July 23, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a period of declining health. Mrs. Alexander was born in Hope Mills County, NC January 7, 1922, a daughter of the late Alexander Arnette and Ruth Barber Hawkins. She retired from United Merchants- Buffalo Plant and had also worked at Union Mills. Mrs. Alexander was a member of New Life Baptist Church and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are three daughters, Charlotte West, Dianne Williams and husband Jimmy and Judith Cromley and husband Steve all of Union; nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by a son, Bobby Joe Alexander; a sister, Peggy Hawkins Rutter; a brother, Glenn David Barber and a granddaughter, Patricia Gayle Parris. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, July 26, 2007 at New Life Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shep Bevis and Rev. Stephen Berry. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Life Baptist Church, 502 Meansville Road, Union, SC 29379.
