Born November 3, 1925 in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Theodore Whitner Smith and Hettie Ann Wilson Smith. He was predeceased by his brother, Whitner Wilson Smith and his sister, Katherine Hettie Smith. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eloise Henderson Smith; his daughter, Marjorie and Jack Anderson of Columbus, Ohio; his son, Wilson Keith Smith of Gaffney, SC; grandchildren Warren and Melissa Smith, Tamara and Rob Main, Kevin and Elaina Smith and Jonathan and Amanda Anderson. He is survived by his great-grandchildren Keely, Riley, and Aubrey Smith and Parker Anderson. He is also survived by his sisters Edna Murice Smith and Grace Ann Smith.He opened the Sherwin William Paint Company in Greer in 1954 where he remained until retirement due to illness in 1981. He served on the Greer City Council. Mr. Smith was a veteran of WWII, a master Mason of more than 50 years, and a member of the Shriner's Club. He also served as President of the Greer Optimist Club. He served on the Board of Trustees for Faith United Methodist Church in Greer, SC and was a faithful member there for 48 years. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Faith United Methodist Church, 1301 South Main Street (south Highway 14) in Greer, SC from 1-3PM, followed by funeral service at 3:30 PM at the church with the Rev. Laura Price and Rev. Phil Watry officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church. Family will be at the residence.
