LEWIS HAMILTON CLARK Lewis Clark Hamilton, 85, Born in Boston, Resident of Chestnut Hill, Mass, Vero Beach, Florida, and Dublin, New Hampshire, formerly of Cambridge. Died Dec. 4, 2010 after a courageous two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a graduate of Avon Old Farms School, attended Harvard College with the class of 1947, and served in the Naval Officers Reserve Training Corps from 1943 to 1945. He briefly served on Destroyer Escorts in the Atlantic. He then returned to Harvard. In 1946 he was employed by The Cambridge Trust Company and served in almost every capacity within the bank before being elected President and Chief Executive officer in 1980. He retired in 1991. He was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Vincent Memorial Hospital, and a Trustee of Mt. Auburn Hospital. He served on numerous Boards in Cambridge, including Cambridge Community Services, Cambridge Center for Adult Education, Cambridge Family Society, and The Adolescent Consultation Service. He also served on boards of the Dowse Institute and Rogerson House. He served as a Vestryman at Christ Church Cambridge and also The Church of the Redeemer in Chestnut Hill. He was a member of the United States Seniors' Golf Assn, and was an enthusiastic golfer who enjoyed playing at The Country Club, where he was on the Board for 12 years and president for 5. In Florida he played at Riomar Country Club and the Moorings. In New Hampshire he loved the country life and the views of Mount Monadnock from the Dublin Lake Club course. He lived a full and happy life always putting his family and friends first. He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Barbara Houston Hale, and 4 children, Deborah Clark Robbins, widow of James Oliver Robbins, L. Hamilton Clark, Jr., and his wife Caroline Addison, Barbara Clark McCartney and her husband Klaus Kleinke, and Sarah Houston Clark and her husband George Thayer Dilworth, 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 11 at 3:00PM at the Church of the Redeemer, 379 Hammond Street, Chestnut Hill, 02467.
