LEWELLA JESSIE PLOOF -- BURLINGTON — Lewella Jessie Ploof, 63, of Burlington died in Fletcher Allen Health Care with her daughter by her side Tuesday, April 19, 2005. She was born in Warren, July 29, 1941, to Oscar Arthur and Clara Eliza (Ferris) Hill. Lewella married Robert Ploof on Dec. 9, 1961. Together they ran the Old North End Community Association for eight years. Lewella, who always had a smile for everyone, was the crossing guard on the corner of Rose and North streets for 18 years. She was really loved and had so many friends and will be greatly missed. Her husband, Robert, died Nov. 17, 2003. Lewella is survived by her daughter, Brenda M. Ploof of Grand Isle; her stepson, Bruce K. Ploof of Burlington; three brothers, Dan Hill and his wife Linda, Jarry Hill and his wife Dawna Hill, and Larry Hill, all of Milton; her sistersin-law, Betty Hill of Buffalo, N.Y., Loraine Lavallee of Worcester, Mass., and Shirley Martin and her husband, Edward of Burlington; three brothersin-law and their spouses, Adilord and Jean Ploof of Worcester, Mass., Walter Ploof of Alto, Texas, and Reginald and Jan Ploof of East Millbury, Conn.; four grandchildren, Edward Ploof, Brent Hathaway, Bryonna PloofMiller and Danielle Ploof; a large family of nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. She was predeceased by a stepson, Brian R. Ploof; three brothers, Kalvan, Charly and Gordon Hill; and a sister, Ester Hill. Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Home, 85 N. Winooski Ave., Burlington. A funeral service for Lewella will be held at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Arrangements are by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Directors.
