FITCHBURG -- Leon J. Lambert, 85, of 561 Oak Hill Road, died Monday morning, June 16, in HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster, after an illness. He was born on Jan. 11, 1918 in Fitchburg, the son of Frank and Delcinda (Dauphinais) Lambert, and lived all of his life in Fitchburg. For 38 years, Mr. Lambert worked as a box maker for the former Simonds Saw & Steel of Fitchburg, retiring in 1980. Mr. Lambert was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 429 and Amvets Post 29, and a member of the Simonds Recreation Club and Veterans Association. He was also a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Church. Mr. Lambert leaves his beloved wife of 52 years, Theresa D. (Vaillette) Lambert; two brothers-in-law’s, Theodore F. Vaillette and Paul J. Vaillette, both of Leominster; and several nieces and nephews. His sister, Theresa M. Lambert, died in 1998. LAMBERT -- On June 16, Leon J. Lambert, 85, of Fitchburg. The funeral will be held Thursday, June 19, from the Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 49 Woodland St. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the Oncology Clinic, HealthAlliance-Burbank Campus, 326 Nichols Rd., Fitchburg, MA. 01420; or to a charity of one’s choice.
