STURBRIDGE— Leo Paul Monette, 92, of 7 Simpson St., died Thursday, July 28th, in the Quaboag on the Common Nursing Home, West Brookfield, after an illness. He leaves his wife of 68 years, Doris E. (Hackett) Monette; two daughters, Carol A. Bourbeau and her husband Laurent Bourbeau, Jr. of Sturbridge and Marcia E. Provost and her husband Robert Provost of Colorado; a sister, Jeanne Anctil of Webster; a brother-in-law, Emile Roulier of East Hartford, CT; 8 grandchildren, David Bourbeau, Mary Owens and her husband Kenneth, Joel Bourbeau and his wife Christine, Neal Bourbeau and his wife Shelly, Mary Cathleen Oyler and her husband David, Thomas Provost and his wife Jodi, Daniel Provost and his wife Shelly and Matthew Provost and his wife Kathy; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Cathleen Monette and a granddaughter, Loreen Ellen Provost. He was born in Southbridge, the son of Moise and Roseanna (Theriault) Monette and lived in the area all his life. Mr. Monette was the Assessor for the Town of Sturbridge for 30 years before retiring many years ago. He previously worked many years at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge, he worked at the Springfield Armory and he owned and operated a bread delivery service for several years. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Southbridge. He was an active member of St. Anne’s Church in Sturbridge and was a member of its League of Sacred Heart and a member of the Men’s Club of St. Anne’s. A funeral Mass in St. Anne’s Church will be held at a later date. Burial in Old Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Anne’s Church, 16 Church St., Fiskdale, MA 01518. The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge is directing arrangements.
