->Lenore Helen DavisHARRISBURG, PA - Lenore Helen Davis, 87, of Harrisburg, Pa., died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born October 12, 1923 in Hyde Park, she was a daughter of Christopher and Helen (Todd) Downes. She was a 1944 registered nurse graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Poughkeepsie. Lenore was a WWII U.S. Army military nurse and also served with Blue Ridge Haven for more than ten years. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Harrisburg. Lenore was a kind, gentle and caring person who enjoyed the sun and simple things in life. Although Alzheimer's Disease and other health issues slowed her in later life, she never lost her wit. Surviving are three sons, Peter, Alan and Jon; two daughters, Sharon and Margaret; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, David; and three sisters, JoAnne, Ave and Ann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major (Ret.) William J. Davis on October 29, 1995 after more than forty years of marriage. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg, PA 17112 with Father Mark M. Speitel as Celebrant. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. Committal services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. The procession will depart from Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home, Inc., 4100 Jonestown Rd., Harrisburg, promptly at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church at the above address.
