SMITH Mrs. Lee E. Smith, age 87 of Orange, beloved wife of Walter E. "Bud" Smith, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on February 19, 1922 to the late Philip and Mary Stella Galletti Marcus. Along with her husband, she operated the Orange Hills Country Club for more than 50 years. She was a long term member of the Orange Congregational Church for many years where she served as a Deacon and a member of various boards. She was also involved in the Orange Open Space Preservation Board. In addition to her husband, she leaves two daughters, Patricia Henriques and her husband, Vico of Arlington, Va. and Judy Smith Morgan and her husband, Dean of Orange; a son, Jud W. Smith of Orange; a sister, Irene McGrail of West Haven; three grandchildren, Justin, Jennifer, and Rebecca Morgan; a nephew, John McGrail and his wife, Lynne-Anne of Marina Del Ray, Calif.; and Lee's longtime caregiver and friend, Pha Glover of West Haven. She was predeceased by a son, Paul W. Smith in 1999. A special note of thanks to Dr. John Chandler, Dr. Ernie Moritz, Dr. Mark Marieb, Dr. Norman Marieb, Dr. Barr Forman, and Maria Biondi for their extraordinary medical care they all provided. Services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Orange Congregational Church, 205 Meetinghouse Circle, Orange, followed by an Interment in Orange Center Cemetery, Orange. Family and friends may call Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the C.S. & O.
