Lee Blair Manning of Needham, MA passed away peacefully on October 27, 2012. Lee was born on November 12, 1957 in Boston and was a long term resident of Needham. He was a graduate of the Needham High School class of 1976 and held a BS in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. Lee had an adventurous and rewarding career contributing and leading in engineering positions. Early in his career, Lee worked for the Army Corps of Engineers where he received a commendation for his service. He also worked at Bay Banks, ABN Amro, EDS and Logica Data Architects as well as several national organizations as a consultant on Tandem systems. While in Florida, Lee owned a computer systems consulting company and later owned a power washing and cleaning contracting company. Several years ago Lee returned to the Boston area to be closer to family and friends and enjoyed working at Lowes in Dedham in his retirement. Lee was one of the original members of the Needham Militia that was re-commissioned as part of the Bi-Centennial in 1976. He was a town meeting member for several years and a member of the Toastmasters and IEEE organizations. Friends will remember Lee as a man for all people. He had a love of history, science, local politics, cooking, golf and the New England Patriots. He was an avid reader and was always happy recommend a good book. Lee had a great ability to brighten any room with his thoughtful insights and anecdotes and was always ready for spirited conversation. He will be missed by many. Lee is the son of the late Dorothy Manning of Needham and the late Lee J Manning of South Boston. He is survived by his brother Greg Manning, his wife Jennifer and was the loving uncle of their children Sean and Eileen Manning of Needham, MA. A funeral service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham on Saturday, November 3rd at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5 pm. to 7 p.m. Interment will be at the Needham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation 39 Broadway, Suite 2700, New York, New York 10006 or the Needham Public Library, 1139 Highland Ave. Needham, MA 02494.
