ObituaryBorn in Jonesboro, Arkansas on August 16, 1917, Johnny Johnson ended his journey on earth in Ft. Myers, FL on Saturday June 18, 2005. The highlight of his life was his marriage of 69 years to Helen LePenes and the family it provided. Together they raised four children; Donna (Max) House of Ft. Myers, FL, Charles (Diane Crane) Johnson of Davison, MI, Robert Johnson (deceased) and Carol (Ron) Fisher of Ft. Myers, FL. In addition to his immediate family, Johnny leaves behind a sister Noami Reed of Tawas, MI, fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.Johnny worked 37 years at Buick Motor Division in Flint, MI where he retired as Fire Chief in 1972. He was a charter member of the Genesee Township #2 Volunteer Fire Department serving as its first Chief from 1948 to 1962. He was also a life member of the Eastern Star of Masonic Lodge Genesee Chapter, a veteran of World War II and an ardent fisherman and hunter.He spent his retirement years in Sunny Grove Mobile Home Park in Estero, FL where he gained notoriety as a master angler of Estero Bay and anxiously waited for friends and family to join him on the Estero River and Back Bay.In 1981 he initiated the resident ownership of Sunny Grove Park and served as the first President of its Broad of Directors. He was the last surviving member of the original Board.His passing has left his family with a treasure of loving memories of a man who was always where his heart was and the thought that life was to be enjoyed.Cremation has taken place.
