PLANTE JR, LAWRENCE "DONNIE", Of Eustis, FL died Sunday February 9, 2003 after a two year battle with lung cancer. He was born September 30,1935 in Boston, MA. He moved to Winter Park, FL in 1936, where he resided with his family . After graduating from St. James High School in 1953, he attended the University of Florida and then entered the Marine Corps. After his enlistment with the Marine Corps, he worked with the family at L. D. Plante, Inc. until 1986 when the company was sold. He married his wife Jane in 1961 and they lived in Altamonte Springs from 1963 until 1989 when they decided to move to Eustis, FL. He started Service Ice Co. in 1987 and built it into the region's largest packaged ice manufacturer. Don also started and still owns Travel Country Outdoors located in Altamonte Springs, it is one of the largest Outdoor Retail stores in the Southeast. Don lost his wife Jane, his soulmate, to cancer in December of 2002. Don was greatly loved by his four children. Larry Plante of Winter Park, Mike Plante of Windernere, Steve Plante of Winter Park, and Susan Plante of Orlando. He is also survived by his brother. Kenneth Plante of Tallahassee, and his Sister, Carol Stone of Lake Mary, as well as his four grandchildren; Colton, Mason, Donnie and Tara Plante, Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2003 from 5-7PM at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home, 1800 N. Donnelly St., Mt. Dora, FL 32757. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 9:30AM at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church In Eustis, FL.
