Lawrence P. Marshall Jr. May 5, 1928 - September 6, 2009 Norwich - Lawrence P. Marshall Jr. 81, died Sunday at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Springfield, Ma. on May 5, 1928 the son of the late Lawrence P. and Dorothy (Flemings) Marshall Sr. Mr. Marshall was educated in the Springfield school system and attended American International College in that city for two years. He graduated from Emerson College in Boston in 1950. He was employed for 32 years at the Chambers-Storck Co. of Norwich where he became President until the sale of the company. He then worked for Armotek Industries of Palmyra, N.J. as a sales consultant. He retired in 1993. He also worked for 10 years as a Major Account Executive at the Norwich Bulletin. Mr. Marshall also worked as a courier for the Jewett City Savings Bank. Mr. Marshall was one of the founders of the Norwich Jaycee's and also served as secretary of the Connecticut Jaycee's He was a Director of the Norwich Rotary Club and the Norwich Chamber of Commerce. He served as a Corporator of the Dime Savings Bank and was a member of the Commerce Club and the Westbrook Fish and Game Club, and the Leffingwell Inn. For many years Mr. Marshall was an active member of the Park Congregational Church where he served on various boards including the Deacon's and Trustees. In June of 1950 he was married to Bettylee (Chambers) Marshall who survives him. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Jeffrey C. Marshall of No. Stonington. Two daughters, Melinda Marshall of Mystic and Deborah Blair of Taftville. One sister, Elizabeth Grant of Rutland, Vt. Nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister Judith Axtell. A memorial service will be held Friday at 10:30 A.M. at the Park Congregational Church 283 Broadway Norwich. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
