McDONALD, Lawrence Grant June 24, 1928 – March 13, 2016Mr. Lawrence McDonald of High River, Alberta went to meet his two beloved dogs on Sunday, March 13, 2016. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family. Lawrence was born in Oyen, Alberta on June 24, 1928. Lawrence was in Cabri, Saskatchewan working in the oil industry when he met Donna Harris. They were married on September 30, 1952. They had 4 children Ken (Liz), Laurie (Gerry), Shelly (Larry) and Corey. In 1958 Dad and Mom packed up the 3 oldest children and headed to Portugal to work for Mobil Oil. Upon returning to Canada in 1959, he joined Precision Drilling. In 1962 he moved his family to Lakeview in Calgary. This is where Corey was born. He loved snowmobiling and driving the boat for anyone who wanted to water ski. Dad was a hard working, dedicated employee at Precision Drilling until 1988 when he retired and moved to Gladys Ridge and then High River. In his senior years he enjoyed shuffle board and carpet bowling. He went to the Senior Winter Games winning many friends and awards. Dad was a wonderful, loyal husband and a great and loving father and grandfather. He was lovingly called Grandpa by seven grandchildren; Lana (John), Carrie (Chris), Tracy (Mike), Terri, Ken (Ashley), Jamie (Andrew) and Brianne, and known as Papa to nine great- grandchildren; Keegan, Jackson, Paisley, Ethan, Chloe, Nolan, Cadance, Knox and Olivia. He will be forever loved and missed but never forgotten. Thank you to the Foothills Country Hospice staff for the wonderful care in his final days.
