Lawrence Joseph Fortier, 65, of Redlands, Calif., passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, after a brief illness. Larry was born in Weymouth, Mass., to Edmund and Ida (Mello) Fortier and grew up in Cohasset, Mass. He graduated from Cohasset High School in 1966 at which time he entered the Air Force. He was honorably discharged from active duty as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in the Army in 1977. After leaving the service, he worked in the computer industry in Massachusetts for many years before relocating to California in 1991 to join ESRI. Prior to his death, he worked for Arrowhead Neurosurgical Medical Group, Inc. Larry was always passionate about flying and earned his private pilots license in 1997. He spent many happy hours at Redlands Municipal Airport where he was a member of the Breakfast Club. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend. Larry married his loving wife of 41 years, Jean (Choquette) Fortier of Scituate, Mass., May 20, 1972. In addition to his wife, he leaves his two daughters, Lori (Fortier) Lyons and her husband Daniel of Newington, Conn., and Danielle Fortier of Redlands, Calif.; three grandchildren, Abby, Michaela and Taylor Lyons of Newington, Conn.; his brother, Edmund Fortier and his wife Diane of North Scituate, Mass.; his two sisters, Leslie and Laura Fortier, both of Cohasset, Mass.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Private services will be held to celebrate his life. Memorial donations in Larrys name may be made to Arrowhead Neuroscience Foundation, P.O.
