Laura Beck Kitchens, 34, passed away March 6, 2009, at her home in Starkville, Miss.Mrs. Kitchens formerly served as director of the Mississippi State University Annual Fund and was also very active in the First Baptist Church, of Starkville. She enjoyed singing in the choir and participated in the Heart Friends Bible Study. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and was on orientation leader at MSU.Mrs. Kitchens is survived by her husband, Shane Kitchens, of Starkville; parents, Oscar and Mary Jim Beck, of Florence, Ala.; and grandmother, Robbie Hughes Pass, of Trussville, Ala. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 9, at First Baptist Church, of Starkville. A celebration service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, at the church. A graveside service and interment will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Greenview Memorial Park in Florence, Ala.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Laura Beck Kitchens Scholarship Fund through the Mississippi State University Foundation, Mississippi State, MS., 39762.The family would like to express its appreciation for the loving care given by Whitecar's Cancer Care Center, Baptist Cancer Institute, Heart to Heart Hospice, Semmes-Murphy Clinic, and University of MS Cancer Institute.Friends can sign the online guest register at www.welchfuneralhome.com.
