Marion Lawrence Smith, 70, widower of Shirley B. Smith, of 5 Briarstone Court, died March 17, 2008.Born in Orangeburg, S.C., he was the son of the late John Raymond and Ennis Berry Smith.Mr. Smith was a graduate of The Citadel and was an Engineer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant JG.Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Karen S. and Carl Willis of Fountain Inn; a son, Richard Smith of Mauldin; a sister, Harriet Gillam of Orangeburg; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Samuel and Charlotte Willis.Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Susan Crowell officiating.
