NORTHPORT Larry Devone Smith, age 77, of Northport, died Aug. 19, 2009, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Doug Wells and Rev. Sam Hardie officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He is preceded in death by his father, Otha Lee Smith; mother, Nathalie Smith; brothers, Jerome Smith, Leon Smith and Wesley Smith; and sister, Kathalene Snipes.Survivors include his wife, Ila Mae Smith; daughter, Theresa Smith Boothe; granddaughter, Ashlie D. Boothe; grandson, Trace D. Boothe; and sister, Cynthia Little.He lived a full life. He was a member of the Northport Lions Club for 43 years. He also was a member of St. Mark United Methodist for 50 years. He worked for Bell Construction for 48 years. His greatest pride was his grandchildren, Ashlie and Trace. He was married to his wife of 53 years and had one child, Theresa.Pallbearers will be Chris Ragland, Bobby Ragland, Kay Hinton, Harry McCollum, Woody Smith, and Hardy McCollum.Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Johnson, Charles and Dot Smith, Sonny and Donna Aaron, Northport Lions Club, members of St. Marks United Methodist Church, Bell Construction past and present employees, Dr. Motley, DCH Regional Medical Center – Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room staff, a host of friends from Vestavia Hills community, and Dr. Hill McCollum Sunday School Class.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice.
