Larry-A. Smith, né en 1938, conjoint de Linda-Pruitt Smith, fils de Vogal et Vivian-Gambrell, père de Melissa Smith, April Smith et Tenn, est décédé le 16 juillet 2002 à l'âge de 64 ans.
Larry Alton Smith, 64, of 4021 Moore-Duncan Highway, Moore, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Vogal L. and Vivian Gambrell Smith, and was a 1956 graduate of Pendleton High School. He was employed with the Spartanburg Herald Journal for 33 years, retiring as the Composing Room Supervisor. He was a member of Care Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon, and had also served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Surviving are his wife, Linda Pruitt Smith, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa Smith Hawkins and husband Jeff Hawkins, of Wellford, and April Smith Graddick and husband Scot Graddick, of Greenville, Tenn.; four grandsons, Austin Graddick, Jacob Hawkins, Will Graddick and Jared Hawkins; and two sisters, Mrs. Lewis E. (Carol) Daniels of Greenville, and Gale Smith Turner and husband David B. Turner, of Wellford. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at the Lanford-Pollard Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mike Cook, the Rev. David Slatton and Dr. William Pete. Interment will follow at River Hills Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lanford-Pollard Funeral Home. Those who wish may make memorials to the Building Fund of Care Baptist Church, 849 Fairmont Ave., Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family will be at the home at 4021 Moore-Duncan Highway.
