LOUISE SUZANNE RATHE - MILTON - Louise Suzanne Rathe, 53, of Milton, died suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following a short, but severe illness. Born in Burlington on Nov. 22, 1960, Louise was the daughter of Louis and Suzanne (Tougas) Rathe. She graduated from Colchester High School in 1978. Louise was happiest driving her car to her sense of freedom. The family often referred to her as "the roadrunner." She loved people and was a caring and giving person and always believed in giving someone a second chance. Louise is survived by her brother, Armand Rathe and fiancee, Laurie Marshall; brother, Paul Rathe; brother-in-law, Michael Bemis; niece, Monica Rathe; nephews, Dylan and Eric Bemis; special friends, Bill Bowley and Johanna Cauchon; and many relatives, aunts and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Suzanne Rathe; and sister, Joanne Rathe Bemis. The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to all the staff and surgeons of FAHC, and McClure 3 ICU for their professionalism, compassion, dedication and efforts. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, from 3 to 4 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 3:45 p.m., at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski. A reception will follow at the Winooski RVA on Weaver Street from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Louise Rathe can be made to the Surgical/Pediatric ICU Care Fund, FAHC Development Office at 4610 #4, 111 Colchester Ave., Burlington, VT 05401.
