Linda Carol Hall, 69, of Flagler Beach passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011. She was born September 29, 1941 in Langley SC to Hubert and Madeline (Baldwin) Nappier. She was married Jan. 13, 1963 at First Baptist Church of North Augusta, SC to Finley H. Hall. She was formerly a church secretary, bookkeeper, nursing home administrator, Supervisor of Medicana Nursing Centers of Florida, Director of Service on Wheels in Ocala, Director of Lexington County (SC) Aging Program, Retired from the Florida Dept. of Elder Affairs Cares Division. She was a Past Commander of Unit 86 Disabled American Veterans, Past President of The South Carolina Gerontological Assoc., member of the Alzheimer's Assoc., member of various church administrative boards, Sunday school teacher, Volusia County School volunteer. As a preteen, Linda gave roller skating exhibitions and taught skating in North Augusta, SC. In her teenage years, Linda was a hospital candy striper volunteer at Aiken County Hospital. At age 16, her summertime job was the church secretary for Eastside Baptist Church in Plant City, FL. Due to her academic achievements Linda was awarded a full college scholarship to Winthrop College, formerly South Carolina Women's College. As an advocate for the elderly, Linda was one of the pioneers who started the Service on Wheels program which became the model for the Meals on Wheels, Congregate feeding and Adult Activity programs of today. As a nursing home administrator, Linda was one of the first to recognize the need for alternative care living facilities and was successful in opening one of the first elderly care homes. During her tenure as the Aging Program Director in Lexington County, SC, Linda was often called by various Governors of South Carolina to work on special elderly projects and speak to the South Carolina Congress on elder issues. As a result of her efforts, when President Reagan signed his new Social Security bill, Linda flew to Washington and witnessed the signing of the bill at his request. Linda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Finley; her daughter, Belinda A. Hall of Augusta, Georgia; her son, Michael A. Hall of Denver, Colorado; and grandchildren, Tessa M. Hall and Aidan L. Drier. Memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Chapter 86, 208 South Sixth St., Flagler Beach, FL 32136. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach on Central Ave. Linda's home membership Church.
