Lewis B. Anderson, a long time resident of South Salem and previously of White Plains, died on May 14, 2006 at Rosary Hill in Hawthorne, NY. He was 84. Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Peggy, sons Christopher and his wife, Margaret of Ridgefield, CT, and Lewis, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Johnston, RI as well as step-daughters Lorie George and her husband David Klein of Danbury, CT and Halley Leffler and her husband Michael of Sandusky, OH. He was a loving grandfather to Jack, Parker and Kristen Anderson and Madison and Dyson Leffler. He served in the Navy during WWII. Mr. Anderson was well known as a talented band leader, composer and arranger for the Lew Anderson All American Big Band and he was famous for his portrayal of "Clarabell the Clown" on NBC TVs "Howdy Doody Show." A memorial service will be held at TheFirst Congregational Church of Ridgefield, CT on Monday, May 22 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lewis' memory may be made to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
