Laurie A. Carey, 46, of Lincoln Avenue, Cohoes, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 after a long illness. She was born in Cohoes and graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy. She was the daughter of Theresa Schofield Carey of Cohoes and the late Marcel Carey. At the time of her death, Laurie was employed by Prime Care Physicians (Troy/Albany Associates in Cardiology) as an at home medical transcriptionist. She was a former communicant of St. Bernard's Church, serving on the Parish Council, Eucharist Minister and Lecturer. Laurie was a current communicant of St. Ambrose Church, Latham. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Cohoes, serving as a Senior Regent, College of Regents, the highest degree for the Women of the Moose. She was also a former Girl Scout Leader of Troop 279 of Cohoes. Survivors, in addition to her mother, are her brother, Elias (Concetta) Carey of Mechanicville; her sister and best friend, Deborah (Richard) DeVoe of Cohoes and the late William Carey; her nieces, Nicola (Garret) Billert, Concetta (Joseph) Hmura and Kristie (Christopher) Tamasi; her great nieces and nephew, Megan and Nicholas Billert, Sydney and Lyndsey Hmura and Sophia Tamasi; devoted friends, JoAnn and Marty Cole and children, Michele and Bob Peplowski and children, Mary Hebert and children and Mark and Judy Peplowski; the apple of her eye, her God daughter, Elisse Michele Peplowski; and many other friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral, Saturday, 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, Latham where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.
